Updated Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults CPD
Posted on 2nd October 2017
In accordance with the latest reports from the NSPCC and the government as well as changes to legislation, STA has updated the Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults CPD.
STA is committed to safeguarding all those we have contact with including children, young people, vulnerable adults, and the aquatic teacher. For STA safeguarding is of paramount importance and the need to be current is vital, which is why STA have included the latest government reports and agency best practice recommendations such as the Wood report 2016 and NSPCC How Safe Are Our Children 2017 into the updated Safeguarding CPD. This ensures STA aquatic teachers and members have the most up to date knowledge and best practice information to keep all learners and themselves safe.
The CPD will provide aquatic teachers with an understanding of the different forms of abuse, the role of statutory agencies, good practice procedures, the role of an aquatic teacher and good recruitment practices. The CPD is suitable for baby and pre-school swimming teachers, swimming teachers and people with disability swimming teachers. Aquatic instructors such as pool snorkelling instructors, poolside helpers and swimming assistants may also find this CPD beneficial.
On successful completion of the CPD aquatic teachers will gain 1 CPD point.
