First Aid Certificate Extensions and Training Update

Posted on 15th May 2020

As an update to reassure all those who deliver first aid training, the First Aid Quality Partnership held a meeting this week to discuss possible ideas around first aid certificate extensions and the phased return to first aid training, and here is their official statement:

A productive meeting of the First Aid Quality Partnership took place on Wednesday (13th May 2020).

HSE provided thoughts on first aid certificate extensions and the group provided feedback around the possible implications. HSE are now considering this feedback.

A discussion took place around the appropriate timing of phasing the return to first aid training, specifically in relation to guidance from each of the UK devolved governments.

Standardised agreement relating to infection prevention and control, including social distancing was also discussed.

Further scoping and consideration is taking place to enable more detailed information to be published next week from HSE and the First Aid Quality Partnership.

Given the complexities involved, we await to hear further news.

As a member of the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum, we will be notified of all updates, and as soon as we have more clear and definitive information, we can then inform Safety Training Awards’ ATCs and all members who are involved in delivering first aid training.
