End of COVID Adaptations to Assessments and Training for Lifesaving Qualifications
Posted on 24th March 2022
Following the removal of Government COVID restrictions, STA is withdrawing the amendments / adaptations to delivering, training and assessments with immediate effect.
Approved Training Centres (ATCs) must now deliver and assess lifesaving qualifications as per the qualification assessment strategy which can be found within STA Online.
This means staff training, training courses and qualification assessments can ‘return to normal’ with learners demonstrating the practical skills as stated within the qualification assessments strategy.
STA strongly recommend ATCs maintain their hygiene and cleaning procedures as well as have good ventilation within training rooms. Learners are permitted to wear face coverings should they wish.
Following the guidance issued by the Resuscitation Council UK, learners are not required to demonstrate rescue breaths on an adult sudden collapse casualty. STA will update ATCs as soon as this guidance changes. Please note, learners are required to demonstrate rescue breaths on paediatric and drowning casualties.
The STA Support for Providing Safe and Socially Distanced Training and Assessing for Lifesaving Qualifications document is no longer applicable.
