STA Award in Aquatic Teaching – People with Disabilities Pre-Requisites
Posted on 6th December 2022
Following feedback, Safety Training Awards (STA) are removing the lifesaving qualification pre-requisite from the STA Award in Aquatic Teaching – People with Disabilities from 1st January 2023.
Learners undertaking the qualification with a course start date on or after 1st January 2023 will no longer be required to hold a lifesaving qualification prior to the qualification and in order to gain their qualification certificate.
The qualification content remain unaffected. The qualification webpage and qualification specification will be updated accordingly. However, the resources have been updated in terms of branding, but the technical content has not changed.
STA teachers should hold a suitable lifesaving qualification when a designated lifesaver is not present, as per the STA Swimming Teaching Code of Practice. The removal of the lifesaving qualification standardises the pre-requisites across STA aquatic qualifications as well as removing additional barriers to access the qualification.
As part of this update, the Let’s all Swim book which is the resource manual for the STA Award in Aquatic Teaching – People with Disabilities will be reduced to £15.00 per book. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
