Approved Training Centre Application Update

Posted on 9th March 2018

Following on from last month’s announcement that STA’s Approved Training Centres (ATCs) will be implemented in 2018, Safety Training Awards would like to inform our course organisers that the ATC model will be mandatory and anyone who wishes to deliver our qualifications must apply to become an ATC.

If you have not already received an ATC pack from the Quality Assurance team via email, please contact us to request your pack at qualityassurance@sta.co.uk as soon as possible so that we can send this to you.

There are no costs to become an ATC or any annual fees, but costs will apply for External Quality Assurance (EQA) activities. This will be up to a maximum of £250 annually, however the amount is determined based on the risk rating of the centre. For lower risk rated ATCs, the EQA activity can be conducted remotely via desk-based activities rather than a visit, which may reduce the cost (more information on this can be found in the ATC manual within the ATC pack).

Safety Training Awards is encouraging course organisers to implement the ATC model as soon as possible as this is a regulatory requirement.

As an awarding organisation we must request that the application stage has been completed and submitted to Safety Training Awards (at qualityassurance@sta.co.uk) by Wednesday 1st August 2018, and that the ATC structure is fully implemented to meet regulatory requirements.

We must set this deadline as we are governed by the regulators and we may be subject to a regulatory audit by Ofqual this year.

We value and appreciate the support you provide Safety Training Awards as members and course organisers, so we aim to support you throughout the next few months in implementing this process. Our Responsible Officer is available to advise and support you, please do not hesitate to contact us at qualityassurance@sta.co.uk if you need any guidance or have any further questions.

Safety Training Awards would like to thank you for your continued support.
